Quick Dunning Email Tip: Put consequences in the subject line.

I just got an email from Drip asking me to update my billing information. One thing that stuck out to me immediately was this subject line… “Uh oh, credit card fail – your emails will stop sending soon…

The subject line clearly told me not only what the issue was, but what would happen if I didn’t fix it. That kind of subject line gets really good results, because the most important things you need to know are right there. You don’t even have to read the rest of the email to know what’s going on.

If you have a great app that is valuable to your customers, remind them up-front of the value that they’ll be missing if they don’t update their billing information. It’ll work wonders!
